ONU/RDC : Les Nations Unies indésirable à Goma, priés de « faire ses valises », son siège attaqué par des manifestants en colère
Depuis hier, les populations en RDC réclament le retrait des Casques bleus de la MONUSCO. Le bâtiment d’une délégation des Nations Unies a été incendiée dans la ville lors d’une manifestation de protestation dépravée. Le gouvernement congolais a condamné la flambée de violence.
Les 14 000 Casques bleus qui travaillent depuis des années en République démocratique du Congo ne répondent pas aux besoins de la population. Cela est vrai car la RDC continue de vivre dans des conditions dangereuses à l’est. Hier, des centaines de manifestants se sont rassemblés à Goma, scandant la MONUSCO pour protester contre cet état de choses. Mais la manifestation à vite dégénéré avec les Casques bleus.
Une source a déclaré que la foule était tellement en colère qu’elle a attaqué le quartier général local de la MONUSCO et sa base logistique. Certains avaient déjà escaladé les murs de la mission onusienne avant de piller les locaux. Dans ce cas, certains agents ont dû être évacués par voie aérienne. Un incendie s’est déclaré dans la nuit.
« Nous évaluons les dégâts à des centaines de milliers de dollars », a déclaré Khassim Diagne, chef adjoint de la mission onusienne, qui a déclaré que les membres de la mission étaient « préoccupés par cet incident très grave et ce un jour après que des individus aient tenu des propos hostiles et menaces aux Nations unies nous demandant de quitter la République démocratique du Congo. »
Lors d’une récente visite à Goma, le président du Sénat, Modeste Bahati, a demandé à la MONUSCO de « faire ses valises ». Le responsable congolais a dénoncé l’inefficacité de la mission onusienne dans le pays depuis 22 ans. Le gouvernement « condamne fermement toute forme d’attaque contre le personnel et les installations de l’ONU ». Le porte-parole du gouvernement, Patrick Muyaya, a promis que les responsables seraient « poursuivis et sévèrement punis ».
